So as I sit here watching the Phillies give away the home opener to the lowly Nationals, I thought I would write a quick entry. With the season winding down things are heating up in our division. We are no longer in first place as the Penguins have passed us. It is dissapointing but we still have time to get it back. Playoffs are coming up soon and I am looking forward to my first crack a the post-season as a pro. I as working hard in rehab to try to get my knee ready to go as soon as I can.

I would also like to send my congradulations to Rossco for being named the Man of the Year for the Phantoms. Monday we will face the Albany River Rats for the second time in three days. I'm sure you all know that they got the best of us Sat night so be expecting for us to come out ready to go Monday.
The weekend wasn't all to bad. We took three out of a possible four points, winning in Wilkes-Barre Friday night and taking a point out of overtime on Saturday.
We are coming up on the home stretch with less than two months left in the regular season. Looking forward to seeing everyone at the game and at the Carnival this Sunday.

Home Stretch

Well we just wrapped up a very busy month and now February starts with a 6 day road trip. Some of our injured players are close to returning and should help out seeing our schedule doesn't get any easier.

We had a super bowl party last night as I am sure many of you did as well. We were all very surprised at the outcome of the game. I am not sure if all you eagles fans were happy the Giants won or not. Anyway, I hope everyone enjoyed the game and had fun. Any good commercials? I wasn't really paying attention.

A new mustache boy (or boys) was recently crowned and they are not very pleased. Keep your eyes peeled. Things are not going as well as we would like but every team has a rough patch in a long season. More bad news is that Jared had to have his appendix taken out in Syracuse but is recovering nicely. We will miss him out there but I am sure he will be back before you know it.

Congrats to him for the All-star selection as well as Picard. It has been a busy few weeks with Christmas and the New Year and a whole lot of hockey games. This month will be tough on us. We play a lot of hockey this month and it will be a grind. So far we have started off the new year pretty well. Even with a few injuries and a few call-ups we are still putting up some wins.

Keep an eye out for a new mustache boy. Freddy Cabana was able to lose the stach and a new victor was crowned. See if you can spot him in the coming weeks. Three for Three would have been nice but we let at least one point slip away at the end of the game. One more game left before the Christmas break and I hope to see a good crowd out for it.

We tried to keep things light this week. We had our team Christmas party on Monday and then we had out gag gifts today. I went down to the CBS 3 studio with Mike Thornton and shot it. It was a cool experience and I have heard from a few people that they have seen it. Keep your eyes peeled. I am sure you will get a laugh out of it. I am not sure how good my acting skills are.

Only a few games left before Christmas. Make sure to come out to the games and make sure to look for a Mustache.
Once a month we play a game called Mustache boy. Almost every player participates. It is a simple game, each player gets a breakaway on me and if they score, they are out. If they don't, they continue until they do. The game continues until there is only one person who didn't score. That man is now the Mustache boy and has to grow his Mustache for a whole month. GOOD TImes.

Scotty

Back from Canada

Well we're back from probably one of the longest road trips most of us have ever experienced. The trip started out on a Wednesday night, the first night on the bus was probably one of the easiest. We got into Hamilton, Ontario early in the morning on Thursday and had a practice in the afternoon, other than that, the day was pretty empty. Our first game against Hamilton went well. We got out to a great start and pretty much dominated most of the game with a 6-0 win.
That night we bused down to Cleveland. It wasn't so bad except that we got into Cleveland pretty early in the morning again and you could already since the team was feeling fatiqued. We played the Lake Erie Monsters that night which we played well, out shot the Monsters but failed in putting the puck in the net. It wasn't even that the other teams goalie was that good, we all felt like we just made him look good. We lost the game 2-1, we should have ended up winning that one.
Saturday after the game, the roads got really bad. It was a very long, miserable night on the bus due to the weather and our recent game. We got into Toronto around six in the morning, slept the rest of the day and had to get to the rink for our third game.
You could really see that the guys were tired early in the game. Without managing a single shot in the first period, and only being down 1-0 we found ourselve's in an ugly game against the Marlies. We lost 4-2. The good that we did end up taking from that last game is knowing that we found that we were in the game the whole night even though we were exhausted and not playing our best. Toronto has a good team this year so we know that we can compete with anyone, even through a long road trip.
The bus ride home Sunday night wasn't so bad. Most of us slept from exhaustion, we got home around six in the morning.
See you guys this weekend!

Rossco

Hershey Rivalry Renewed

Well the weekend was what I expected. A couple good games against the Bears. Fridays game was fun because it is always nice to play in the Center. The result wasn't what we wanted. Cassivi had a good game and we couldn't solve him. It was Boucher's turn on Saturday though. He posted a shutout and played unreal. So I guess a split in the home and home series will do. I am pretty confident that all the games against them will be exciting this year.

My old college coach and rossco's dad, Doug "the legend" Ross, was in attendance this weekend and was able to see some sweet moves from Jared including a nice breakaway goal on Saturday.

I would also like to annouce a new edition to the Munroe family. A little guy by the name of Burt. He is a 3 month old Boxer puppy and he is pretty cute.

We are off to Canada this weekend. Some tough games, but it will be nice to cross the border back to Canada and see some family that I have in the area. See ya soon.

Scotty

Gobble Gobble

Well, we are back from Norfolk and things certainly didn't go as we had planned. Norfolk got off to a quick start and didn't look back. We were down early and it stayed that way the whole game. The trip home was a quiet one as guys were a little bummed about the result. We got back at 2:15 am which I think is a new record for our bus driver george. Today is a day off and we have the Hershey Bears for a home and home this weekend.

I would just like to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. Look for periodical posts every month or so. For those who don't know of this section, it actually comes from the show "Family Guy."

You know what really grinds my gears? Whenever you go to the dentist, why do they think that it's time to have a conversation where they ask you questions and expect answers? They have all of these little sharp utencils and they're poking around in your mouth. I'm having a hard enough time trying to keep my mouth open and avoid swallowing all that crap they scrape off my teeth, let alone attempting to answer questions. And then, I love it when they're scraping my teeth, poke my gums with that darn needle, I start to bleed, and then they say, "uh you need to floss more." That's what grinds my gears!!!

Rossco

Clutch Performances Propel Phantoms

Well folks,

I hope you were in attendance this weekend because if you weren't, you missed some great hockey. Friday's game was one for the ages. We outshot Bridgeport and were playing pretty well but still found ourselves down by two goals late in the game. With just over two minutes left I was pulled in favor of an extra man. Sure enough we get a goal. Back in I go. Once we got the puck into the other end, out I come again and Mr. Clutch (Potulny) scores again. So what looked like a 2-0 loss ends up in OT. Not long into the OT bridgeport gets called for a penalty and we go on the powerplay. The man with the hot stick was put on the ice and sure enough he gets another one to win the game. Three goals in about three minutes. This truely was one of the greatest comebacks I have been a part of. It is very tough to score late in the game, but to do it twice and then win in OT was something special.

Saturdays game was another strong performance by the guys. We outshot Binghampton and really controlled the play. With Boucher still nursing the hamstring I was in the pipes again. With the help of my D-men and the forwards keeping the play mostly in the other end I was able to record my first shut-out of the season. That makes 1 1/2 for the year. Back on the bus and back to philly to take on the Rats.

Sundays game was tough. The third game in three nights is not easy and it is the first time in my professional career that I had to play three games in three nights. Albany got the first one but much like the night before against the Senators, the boys really made it tough on the other team by once again recording 40+ shots on net. We were finally able to solve Albany's goalie and then guess who (potulny) gets another game winner to cap off one heck of a weekend for him and the team.

Once again I would like to thank the Phantoms Phans who made the trip to Bingo to cheer us on. It is great to see!

Scotty

Keeping the mood light

Well it's getting down do the end of the week when most people start to settle down a little and have the weekend off. But not us, we have another big weekend, three games in three nights beginning on Friday. It has been a long week of practice for us again and we've been working pretty hard preparing for the weekend. One thing that I believe is important on any team, is being serious and working hard, however, there is a definite need for "keeping the mood light." I want to take a second to let you guys know what we do to help keep spirits up.
It was a rough road trip last weekend and we are around the same guys the whole time. You have to believe that there is some funny business going on. Last weekend a few pranks were pulled that a lot of guys got a good laugh at. We all found it pretty hilarious when one of the guys grabbed a towel after his shower only to find that someone (I won't name names) put some shaving cream on it so when he dried his face it looked like he had a full white beard. And I also must feel bad however, that some guys don't understand English as well as others. One time this past weekend, one guy put tape over a hairspray label. The tape said "deodorant" and needless to say what happened after that when it was used.
As you can understand, road trips get pretty long and its good to "lighten the mood." For the most part we are all pretty laid back guys, and most of the time, when things happen everyone, even the victim, can have a good chuckle.

Rossco

Triumphant Return

Well the boys are back after a pretty good weekend. We managed to get 5 out of a possible 6 points but we may not have done it the easy way. We took Portland into OT thanks to a third period goal by Reider, but they got the best of us in OT and scored in the extra frame. We still got a point which is better than nothing.

Worcester was the site for the long awaited debut of Steve Downie. "Downs" did not dissapoint with a big hit and a nice assist on his first shift. Not long after, Downs got in a "tilt" and got the boys fired up. Bouch started the game but had some hamstring problems and had to leave early in the second. I had to step in with a 2-0 lead and try to preserve the win. We played a strong game and were able to hold off the Sharks for a 3-0 whitewash. Niether Bouch or myself get the shutout. They call it a team shutout and I am told that "Litts" was part of the only other goalie tandem in Phantoms history to do so.

After the game we hopped on the bus and headed to Lowell. The third game of a weekend trip is always tough. With Bouch nursing his hammy, I was in the pipes again. It was a weird game that saw some weird goals on both sides as well as a lot of fights. I was pretty sure that I was going to have to skate the length on one instance. There was a line brawl that turned ugly. Freddy Cabana was "teeing off" on some poor kid and their goalie skated towards the scrum. I made my way to my own blue line in anticipation but luckily (for me haha) I didn't have to skate the whole way. The game ended with a bang when we scored late with the goalie pulled to tie the game. Not long into OT, Tolpeko got a pass and used his blazing speed to spilt the D and bury the puck Five-Hole on the Devil goalie. Victory-Phantoms which always makes a long bus ride more fun.

I want to thank the Phantoms Phans who were with us for the whole New England trip. Your support is appreciated.

Scotty

Ahoy from Portland!!!

Well, we finally arrived in Portland after the eight hour bus ride. Fortunetly, we finally brought along some good movies to watch so the ride wasn't so bad. Both Scotty and I were pretty excited that someone brought along a sneak preview of the movie "American Gangster," not due into theaters till tomorrow. It was a great movie and I suggest everyone see it if they don't mind a little bit of the drug smuggling and murdering type movies (not sure if murdering is a word). Anyways, we also watched "Blades of Glory" and "300," one of my personel favorite movies. We also enjoyed some delicious snacks thanks to the Phantom Fan Club. When we arrived, a few of us walked down to the famous seafood restaurant thats on the water called Dimillos, excellent lobster there. Well it's time to get some rest, big weekend ahead of us.

Rossco

Big Road Trip

We are off to Portland tomorrow. We practice at 8 am and then hop on the bus and head north to Maine. Its a long trip but it will be a good chance to hang out with the guys and do some team bonding. This is our first full weekend away and it will be a good test. We are up against some good teams and it is always fun to win in another teams barn. Jared and I will be posting while on the road so check back in for new posts.

Scotty

Some Halloween Pics

Last night was the team halloween party. Lots of fun and some great costumes. There were some Red Sox players in the house fresh off the big world series win. There were some priests there to make sure everyone was behaving. The Ninja Turtles showed up. We had a great time and it was fun to see everyone dressed up. I am a little biased but I had the best costume haha.

Weekend Sweep Oct. 26-28

So far we are off to a great start. We are 8-1 and coming off a great weekend after winning three games in three days. Chief has us working hard and as a team. We started off by getting a big win down in Norfolk after a long bus ride the day prior. We left right after the game back to philly and took on a dangerous Springfield team the next night. Things were looking good until they got a late goal to make the score 4-3. Luckily we were able to hold them off for a big win. Rossco's natural hat trick certainly helped that cause. Norfolk was back in the Spectrum on Sunday. The familiar Admirals came out swinging and were able to make it one heck of a game. The boys held on for another close one and we came out on top. As he has done so many times so far this season, Boucher was first star and set the tone for the night.

We are on the road next weekend up the the northeast. Portland, Worchester and Lowell will provide a tough test. I think we will be up to it.

Stay tuned for more updates

Welcome to our Blog

Dear Fans,

Rossco and I decided to start a blog to keep you guys up to speed on what is going on with the team.
