Clutch Performances Propel Phantoms

Well folks,

I hope you were in attendance this weekend because if you weren't, you missed some great hockey. Friday's game was one for the ages. We outshot Bridgeport and were playing pretty well but still found ourselves down by two goals late in the game. With just over two minutes left I was pulled in favor of an extra man. Sure enough we get a goal. Back in I go. Once we got the puck into the other end, out I come again and Mr. Clutch (Potulny) scores again. So what looked like a 2-0 loss ends up in OT. Not long into the OT bridgeport gets called for a penalty and we go on the powerplay. The man with the hot stick was put on the ice and sure enough he gets another one to win the game. Three goals in about three minutes. This truely was one of the greatest comebacks I have been a part of. It is very tough to score late in the game, but to do it twice and then win in OT was something special.

Saturdays game was another strong performance by the guys. We outshot Binghampton and really controlled the play. With Boucher still nursing the hamstring I was in the pipes again. With the help of my D-men and the forwards keeping the play mostly in the other end I was able to record my first shut-out of the season. That makes 1 1/2 for the year. Back on the bus and back to philly to take on the Rats.

Sundays game was tough. The third game in three nights is not easy and it is the first time in my professional career that I had to play three games in three nights. Albany got the first one but much like the night before against the Senators, the boys really made it tough on the other team by once again recording 40+ shots on net. We were finally able to solve Albany's goalie and then guess who (potulny) gets another game winner to cap off one heck of a weekend for him and the team.

Once again I would like to thank the Phantoms Phans who made the trip to Bingo to cheer us on. It is great to see!

Scotty: You, and the whole team, were outstanding this weekend! Congratulations on the shutout, and BTW I'm going to have laryngitis for a month after cheering my head off on Friday night for those three goals.

Yesterday's comeback was great, too. I love the way this team is NEVER out of the running. The fact that we don't stop working until the game is over has been our salvation on more than one occasion this season.

Rossco: I hope you're feeling better! You're not allowed to scare us like that anymore, you hear? Too bad it was a one-goal game all night long, so we really couldn't afford to take penalties by having someone kick Brookbank's backside for that hit. That's OK, we can take his name and number and get back to him later. Count on it. :) Be well.
