Triumphant Return

Well the boys are back after a pretty good weekend. We managed to get 5 out of a possible 6 points but we may not have done it the easy way. We took Portland into OT thanks to a third period goal by Reider, but they got the best of us in OT and scored in the extra frame. We still got a point which is better than nothing.

Worcester was the site for the long awaited debut of Steve Downie. "Downs" did not dissapoint with a big hit and a nice assist on his first shift. Not long after, Downs got in a "tilt" and got the boys fired up. Bouch started the game but had some hamstring problems and had to leave early in the second. I had to step in with a 2-0 lead and try to preserve the win. We played a strong game and were able to hold off the Sharks for a 3-0 whitewash. Niether Bouch or myself get the shutout. They call it a team shutout and I am told that "Litts" was part of the only other goalie tandem in Phantoms history to do so.

After the game we hopped on the bus and headed to Lowell. The third game of a weekend trip is always tough. With Bouch nursing his hammy, I was in the pipes again. It was a weird game that saw some weird goals on both sides as well as a lot of fights. I was pretty sure that I was going to have to skate the length on one instance. There was a line brawl that turned ugly. Freddy Cabana was "teeing off" on some poor kid and their goalie skated towards the scrum. I made my way to my own blue line in anticipation but luckily (for me haha) I didn't have to skate the whole way. The game ended with a bang when we scored late with the goalie pulled to tie the game. Not long into OT, Tolpeko got a pass and used his blazing speed to spilt the D and bury the puck Five-Hole on the Devil goalie. Victory-Phantoms which always makes a long bus ride more fun.

I want to thank the Phantoms Phans who were with us for the whole New England trip. Your support is appreciated.

Scotty

Great weekend, guys! You all make us fans very proud of you. :)

Don't worry about getting into scraps. Have Litts give you some pointers on goalie fights. After all, the reason he was part of the Phantoms' other team shutout is that he was ejected from that game for fighting. :)

Keep up the great work! May our dented guys Get Well Soon. See you all on Friday!

I'm curious what it's like to have Steve Downie as a teammate. I imagine that his arrival with the Phantoms got more than average attention.

If it's more comfortable for you, you can respond in terms of how Downie appears to be seen by opponents and how they appear react when he is on the ice.
